As an eleven-time winner of the Prime Minister’s Trophy for the Best Integrated Steel Plant in the country, BSP stands as a benchmark in the steel industry.

1. Specialized Rail and Steel Production

• BSP is the largest producer of wide and heavy steel plates and structural steel, catering to a variety of infrastructure projects across the country.

•The plant specializes in the production of TMT Bars and Rods, all of which are earthquake-resistant and known for their superior quality.

• The product range also includes wire rods, heavy structurals, including channels and beams, designed to meet the most stringent standards of modern construction.

2. ISO Certifications for Quality and Sustainability

• BSP is certified under ISO 9001:2015 for its Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring all saleable products meet global standards.

• The plant holds several other prestigious certifications including:

• ISO 14001 for Environment Management Systems, covering the plant, township, and Dalli Mines.

• ISO 45001:2018 for Occupational Health & Safety Management.

• ISO 50001:2018 for Energy Management, making BSP the only SAIL unit certified for the full scope of integrated steel production.

•  SA: 8000:2014 for Social Accountability.

3. Integrated Management System (IMS) Certification

BSP is the first SAIL unit to receive the Integrated Management System (IMS) certificate, awarded by M/s DNV. This integrates multiple systems—QMS, EMS, OHSMS, and SAMS—setting BSP apart as a leader in comprehensive management practices within the Indian corporate sector.

• BSP is known for its collaborative work culture and industrial harmony, with its employees winning numerous accolades.

• 13 out of the 19 Prime Minister’s ShramRatna Awardees are employees of BSP, underscoring the plant's excellence in workforce development.

• BSP has also won the CII-ITC Sustainability Prize for three consecutive years, and the CREDA Excellence Award for Integrated Steel Plants at the 2016 State Level Sustainable Energy Awards.

• In recognition of its HR best practices, BSP has been awarded the SCOPE Award for Best Practices in Human Resource Management.

• BSP is a recipient of the Vayoshrestha Samman from the Ministry of Social Justice for its outstanding contributions towards senior citizen welfare.

Modernization & Expansion: Enhanced Production Capacities

After the completion of the Modernisation & Expansion Programme (MEP), BSP has significantly increased its production capacities:

• Hot Metal - 7.5 MT (Million Tonnes)

• Crude Steel - 7 MT

• Saleable Steel - 6.56 MT

BSP has received Integrated Management System (IMS) Certificate by a single certifying agency (M/s DNV), integrating QMS, EMS, OHSMS & SAMS becoming the first SAIL unit and among few corporate houses in India to achieve this unique distinction.

Known for their unique collaborative work culture and industrial harmony, Bhilaians have won many awards and accolades bringing pride and glory to Bhilai Steel Plant. Of the 19 individuals to have been awarded the Prime Minister s ShramRatna Award so far, 13 are employees of Bhilai Steel Plant. BSP has been also awarded CII-ITC sustainability Prize for three consecutive years, CREDA excellence Award in the category of Integrated Steel Plants at State Level Sustainable Energy Awards 2016 and prestigious SCOPE Award for Best Practices in Human Resource Management. Recognizing BSP s contribution towards taking care of its senior citizen, BSP has achieved the rare distinction of winning Vayoshrestha Samman which was accorded by Ministry of Social Justice.
